I read the one about the American Revolution, which took place in 1776. The main character is a boy called Nate. He gets lost in the woods trying to find a safe place after running away from his mean uncle. He sneaks onto a ship and ends up in New York. He tries to get a job on a ship, but the leader of the American army says he can be a soldier. America was fighting Britain because it didn't want to be a colony any more. It wanted to be independent. After years of war, America finally defeated Britain and became its own country. I like the characters even if they aren't real. I got to learn about the war through Nate. The author also wrote about Native Americans, and that made me think about who has the right to the land.
